Finally home: conflict-displaced return to their village in the Nuba Mountains
21 December 2021
After years of conflict-led displacement, residents of Tagaba village in South Kordofan, Sudan, have finally returned home. Displaced since 2014, the returnees have come without support but remain determined to resettle in their own land. While the displaced of Tagaba are now home, new conflicts in the Abu Jubeiha area have displaced around 15,000 people since late November. Funding gaps and insecurity have prevented agencies from supporting the newly displaced, the UN reports.
