17 November Protests: In memory of a young revolutionary

24 November 2021

Demonstrations against the military coup on the 17th of November were met with one of the bloodiest responses to date by the security forces since Lt.-Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan launched the military takeover in late October. According to the Sudan Doctors for Human Rights, at least 41 civilians have been killed during protests against the coup since its commencement.

One of the martyrs was a 20-year-old nurse named Sit Al Nafoor Ahmed. Her parents spoke to Ayin about the loss of their daughter, how she was dedicated to participating in the revolution since 2018, demanding a better Sudan and a better future.

Sit Al Nafoor, or her nickname “Sitto”, was fatally shot by security forces who used live ammunition against the protesters on 17 November 2021. Alnfoor succumbed to her wound before she could be treated for a gunshot wound in the jaw.

People all over the country are mourning “Sitto”, and all the youth who gave their lives for the sake of their homeland and continue to demand a civilian government.
