The aid crossing from Adré
28 August 2024
After considerable international pressure, Sudan’s de-facto government under the army allowed aid to cross the Adré border crossing in Chad into West Darfur earlier this month. This will ostensibly allow aid to reach over half a million people facing famine conditions in different areas of Darfur. The timing of the opening by the army, however, is not ideal, local aid workers told Ayin, given the huge challenges of flooding that blocks several seasonal roads.
