Class in war time, volunteers restore a school in Tawila
28 October 2024
While most children have remained outside the classroom for the duration of Sudan’s war that started over a year and a half ago, volunteers in Tawila, Central Darfur State, have managed to revive their classrooms. Tawila is now a home for over 100,000 displaced from the conflict, most emanating from the ongoing violence taking place in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. Despite huge challenges, teachers are ensuring the conflict-displaced children can access education and possibly enjoy a brief respite from the violence around them.
