Escaping El Fasher to new challenges: Mohan’s story

4 October 2025

Mohan Ahmed Adam, 33, a mother of three, was displaced multiple times within El Fasher before fleeing to Tawila after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seized the capital city. She describes their current life in Tawila as extremely difficult: they have no shelter from the sun and live without security.

Mohan speaks bitterly of her children asking for food that she cannot always provide and how she was forced to wean her daughter prematurely because she could no longer breastfeed due to lack of food and energy. All of this occurs amidst a heavy burden of fear and insecurity.

Mohan pleads with humanitarian organisations for urgent intervention to provide security first, then shelter, before anything else, to protect her life and the lives of her children. Despite everything, she clings to a sliver of hope: “I just wish that security would return… and that I could see [my family] again.”
