Khadija in El Fasher

25 May 2024

While the intense conflict last week between Sudan’s army, allied armed groups, and the Rapid Support Forces in the El-Fasher area finally subsided, shelling and airstrikes continue to target residents within the city.

Such is the case for Khadija Abdullah, a displaced mother of four who resides in the Abu Shouk internal displacement camp next to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.

Already displaced by Sudan’s war with Darfur in 2003, Khadija is struggling again to find security while the war has completely depleted any income that could allow her to relocate.
